Persimmons Homes has lodged an appeal against Wiltshire Council who has refused the application for their 34 houses.
Wiltshire Council refused the application because:
- It is outside the settlement boundary (which of course it is);
- It is premature and therefore prejudices what we are trying to do in the neighbourhood plan (which it is and does) and which, by the way, takes away your rights to advocate what houses, where and how many should be built in the parish;
- Wiltshire Council has not allocated this site, for building, in its Core Strategy (because it has allocated other better sites); and
- Wiltshire Council maintains that it has enough land for future housing already in Wiltshire (and this is argued in the Core Strategy).
What we see here is a developer riding roughshod over the rights of Purton’s people, disregarding what the people of Purton have already said, when the application was first raised, and disregarding existing planning guidance. It is just good ol’ fashioned greed; build at any cost (to the detriment of local people) anywhere (we have better sites in Purton).
If you would prefer the people of Purton to have their views properly reflected in the neighbourhood plan (as allowed by law via the Localism Act) and the future of Purton determined by us, rather than by those with no connection to the community, please write quickly to:
Jennifer Saunders, The Planning Inspectorate, quoting:
“Site at Land at Restrop Road, Purton” Ref APP/Y3940/A/14/2226724 and then state your grounds which can include any or all of the above bullets, or your own opinions.
All emails need to be sent to: teamP16@pins.gsi.gov.uk by no later than Tuesday 2 December.
