Wiltshire Council has published the next big plan. This time it is called the draft Wiltshire Local Plan (Local Plan). Last time it was called the Core Strategy. The purpose of the Local Plan is to set out the vision and framework for housing, infrastructure and land for employment growth for the next 15 years (to 2038). Once adopted, all planning applications (in Purton) will be determined against the Plan, making it a critical document for everyone in Purton. The Neighbourhood Plan for Purton (currently being revised) fits within this overall Local Plan.
Comments are being invited now on this Local Plan. The consultation began yesterday and will finish at 5pm on Wednesday 22 November 2023.
There is an in-person event being held in Royal Wootton Bassett on Wednesday 11 October to which you can just turn up. It will take place between 3pm and 7pm at the Royal Wootton Bassett Library, 11 Borough Fields. Wiltshire Council Officers will be present to answer questions.
There will also be an online webinar on Tuesday 10 October. This requires registration beforehand to attend the online event. Register here.
