Although well used since at least the 1950s, the track from the top of Hoggs Lane to Pavenhill was not a formal right of way. Following the public inquiry a short while ago, the inspector has decided that there is sufficient evidence of uninterrupted use (bar a short period when foot and mouth was about) to warrant the track now being known formally as Path 161 and being incorporated into the Definitive Map (which formally defines all Purton’s rights of way).
In the coming weeks or months we should see a nice new stile at the top of Hoggs Lane.
