Yet another “portal” has opened up to help us all find useful information about Wiltshire Council.
The latest is called “My Area” and is found on www.wiltshire.gov.uk. This adds to other key sources also produced by Wiltshire Council: the Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade “Our Community Matters” for the Council and local groups to promote local events in various parts of the community area. Then there is the neighbourhood planning web site for Wiltshire but trying to get to our neighbourhood planning information from there is not intuitive at all.
Interestingly, in the new portal “My Area” there is a link to finding planning applications ~ very useful, though the search engine needs tweaking. If you type in “Ridgeway Farm” the application comes up, but if you type in “Widham Farm” nothing is found. If only…
All in all, these three sites provide a lot of useful information but none is linked easily to each other. There seems to be a case for one portal that opens up to all three and this has been suggested to Wiltshire Council.
In that sense the new “My Area” seems a bit optimistic. But try it and see…
