As you may have heard, the Mopes Lane Household Recycling Centre has a reprieve and will stay open for a little while longer, while the Wiltshire Council finds another permanent home.
Whilst I doubt that our letters and petitions had little direct effect, I am sure they provided a backdrop to a renewed discussion between the Council and Hills. To the Council, it indicated the strength of feeling at a lack of a proper public consultation and of a proper future plan. To Hills, they would have sensed that 80% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
…and so the Council and Hills came together to do better.
Well done to all those who signed and wrote; it did matter, and it did count.
