Not surprisingly, there are several rights of way that are somewhat wet in our parish.
What is surprising, though, is that Mud Lane has been officially “temporarily closed” with a Wiltshire Council sign yet several others remain “open”, despite being impassable e.g. the right of way between Bentham Lane and West Marsh Farm. Now why is that?
Mud Lane is the right of way that Wiltshire Council had refused to clear for several years and then tried to divert last year. Wiltshire Council lost the appeal and was instructed by the HM Planning Inspectorate to open the right of way. It did this towards the latter part of last year. Is this “temporary” closure a bit of umbrage?
Provided all rights of way in Wiltshire that are similarly wet are also temporaily closed, then we will know that Wiltshire Council is acting in our best interests. If only Mud Lane remains “temporarily closed” then we will know otherwise.
Please let me know if there are other rights of way that are partly (or wholly) flooded and have any closure signage.
