South Paven Hill – unsurprisingly, it is back

In the aftermath of Widham Farm, South Pavenhill Farm has now returned.

First, a quick update on Widham. Several members of the public, the parish council and the Unitary Councillor turned up to the Hearing. Wiltshire Council had decided not to contest the Appeal so it was up to the “third parties” to do that. I believe we gave the developer a good run for their money particularly, on employment land, traffic, flooding and heritage. We will hear the result in around six weeks.

But the flood gates have been opened.

We have South Pavenhill Farm now appealing the previous refusal. We anticipate that Wiltshire Council will not contest this either so we need to be prepared. It is by a Hearing (same as at Widham Farm) which means members of the public can turn up (they have to say they’re coming of course) and they can take part in the discussions. There is no reading out of a written statement. The inspector will begin by asking some questions on a particular topic to the applicant and then he will ask for the Council to confirm their agreement (or otherwise) and then ask for any third party comments on that specific topic. One is allowed to keep coming back on the applicant’s response with counter-arguments. This will go on for the whole day while we work our way through things like traffic, housing design, location, flooding and so on.

The applicant will be out in force with at least one expert for each topic. So it will be good to have several members of the public present who are prepared to speak and a few more for moral support and demonstrate concern to the Inspector.

The date for this is not yet published….. back later
